Art Under Ground is thrilled to be exhibiting this month the work of one of Eastbourne’s most unique artists, Mike Tann. Curated by exhibition organisers, Abi Myers and David Smith and featuring many new works this is an intriguing and vibrant show of Tann’s two dimensional work. Employing both paint and collage he creates figurative pieces inhabited by strange beings, at times equally unsettling and humorous. His use of ‘pop’ imagery and his creation of imaginary persons are reminiscent of British pop artist Peter Blake. Tann is not afraid to push the boundaries and shake people up a bit; with a twinkle in his eye he’ll take the subconscious thoughts from the darkest corner of your mind, dress them in a clown suit and serve them back to you with a cherry on top. The exhibition runs from 2 – 31 October and is open Fridays and Saturdays 10am – 4pm at The Under Ground Theatre, below Eastbourne Central Library.
